DESCRIPTION OF THE PERFORMANCE
For more than four years, we have been meeting weekly in a men’s circle. We share our hardships, emotions, successes and failures. We tell each other about our lives. We participate in them because we are friends. This play was born out of this shared friendly energy, and out of honesty and struggle. No one taught us men how to express sadness and fear. No one taught us to ask for help. We learned how to do it on our own: at workshops, therapies, and circles. Now we regularly practise being together, mindfulness, and hugging.
This play is an expression of our experiences as men in Poland.
These are stories about relationships between men that can be more open, emotional, and light-hearted.
It's a story of male bodies, diseases, and traumas.
It's a song about love.
It's a cheeky joke.
It's the voice of sons who have become fathers themselves.
It's the voice of boys who started to feel good about themselves.
INFORMATION ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Grupa Performatywna Chłopaki / The Boys Performative Group - is a collective of sensitive men. Since 2019 they have been meeting in a circle where they work on a conscious relationship with their masculinity and with other men. They share their experiences, promoting the idea of tender masculinity and men's circles. They are the authors of the plays "Now you know, how I feel", "We wanted to talk about masculinity and we became friends" and the podcast "Tender Masculinity". They initiate and lead open men's circles as well as circles for women, men, and non-binary individuals. They conduct workshops and lectures on the topic of tender masculinity.
